Sunday tour at Apokoronas

Explore the area of Apokoronas, also named the Tuscany of Crete, that lies at the foothills of the White Mountains providing abundant water and creating a wonderfully green fertile terrain.

Sunday is the day when special events and local customs take place, and we’d like to share them with you. 

Start your journey at the village of Vamos and visit the Sunday Market. Get acquainted with local produce, learn about medicinal products from mother nature and taste some traditional bits and bites made from fresh and seasonal ingredients. 

Wander through the picturesque alleys of the old neighbourhood of Vamos and admire the Venetian architecture. 

Next, have a relaxing stroll along Kiliaris river breathing in some fresh air under the massive plane trees. By now, our appetites will be whetted, leading us to a traditional taverna—a local hotspot on Sundays—where you can indulge in specially crafted dishes alongside the locals. 

End your journey with a visit at the Castle of Ancient Aptera (Koules) and enjoy some breathtaking panoramic views of Souda Bay while having a brief historical overview of the area.
